The Belz family, having sold their family property, offered 250 Droughtmaster, Charolais cross and Brahman cross cows and calves at Toogoolawah on Friday. The young Droughtmaster cows and calves sold at $1390, $1360 and $1380 with the first 13 pens averaging over $1300. The Charolais cows and calves sold at $1390 and $1270. Aged Brahman cows with Charolais cross calves at foot sold for $1260, $1190 and $1120.
Darcy and Bev Pratten sold Brangus cross cows and calves for $1330. R&B Luther had Charolais cross cows and calves for $1370. AJ Marshall had Droughtmaster cows and calves for $1260.
Lynview Cattle Co sold Charolais cross cows and calves for $1200 and $1180. Used Charolais Bulls sold at $2800 and $2200. Some quality weaner steers were yarded and sold to an excellent market.
Graham and Judith McPherson sold Charolais cross calves for $860, $825 and $815. Dan Duncombe sold Charolais cross steers for $750. Graham and Carmel Lynch had Charbray steer calves for $875 and $840. Skinneal Pastoral, Colinton, sold quality Droughtmaster cross steer calves for $850.
Heifers were in great demand. The Belz family sold Charbray heifers 14 mths for $1050, $930 and $850. G. McPherson sold Charolais cross heifer calves for $765. Graham and Carmel Lynch had Charolais cross heifers 7 mths for $700. Younger weaned heifers in light condition sold in the $600 to $440 range.
Toogoolawah’s first sale for 2019 will be on Friday January 11.
