Agricultural Industry Development Minister Mark Furner addressing the Rural Press Club in Brisbane.
AGRICULTURAL Industry Development Minister Mark Furner says biosecurity threats keep him up at night.
Speaking at the Rural Press Club lunch at the Mercure Hotel in Brisbane today, Mr Furner said Queensland trade depended on the credibility of its biosecurity systems.
“We have double the amount of incursions of any other state in this nation,” Mr Furner said.
“It’s a primary issue for a state like ours with domestic and international trade.
“An outbreak can shut down markets and cause serious losses.
“That’s why we take our role in the eradication of exotic pests very seriously.”
