The largest annual Brahman bull sale in the southern hemisphere kicked off at Rockhampton on Monday, as Rockhampton Brahman Week Sale 2018 got underway.
There was spirited bidding from buyers from across Queensland, NSW and the Northern Territory on the first day of the three day event at the Central Queensland Livestock Exchange, Gracemere.
Grey bulls went under the hammer, with 310 lots catalogued for the first day of action.
The top price grey Brahman at $100,000 was Clukan Axel offered by Steve and Theresa Taylor, Jambin and bought by Kelvin and LIbby Harriman, GI Brahmans, Muttaburra.
Next at $72,500 was reached twice, first by Brahrock Ashley Sir Brandon, Ashley S Sommerfield, with Stuart Nobbs of Yoman Cattle Co. the successful bidder.
John Kirk’s Carinya Dupont also made $72,500, selling to Ruan Grazing, Clermont.
A total of 948 grey and red Brahman bulls are catalogued for the sale, which wraps up on Wednesday.
