COMMERCIAL beef producers underpinned demand during the annual Roma Simmental and Simbrah sale at Roma Saleyards on Friday.
A total of 42 out of 56 Simmental bulls offered sold to $14,500 and averaged $6952 for a 75 per cent clearance.

Gympie district commercial producers James Cochrane and Emily Rockemer, Kendall Park, Coles Creek outlaid the $14,500 top money for Billa Park Next Generation N46, a 19-month-old, 832kg son of Billa Park High Impact H186 (P) offered by Scott and Claire York and family, Billa Park Beef Pty, Ltd, Jackson.
Mr Cochrane said he liked his (Billa Park Next Generation) make and shape and had great fat scans at 15 millimeters (Rump) and 10mm (Rib) for a European bull with the added bonus of a huge eye muscle area of 138 square centimetres.
“We want to breed high end commercial progeny from our Droughtmaster cross cows,” Mr Cochrane said.
A breakdown of the sale revealed Billa Park Beef Pty Ltd sold 33 Billa Park Simmental bulls for a $7363 average and four Casa Toro black Simmental bulls for a $6875 average.
Billa Park Beef co-principal Scott York said he was very pleased with the sale result and especially the confidence shown by his return buyers who were willing to invest heavily in the Billa Park and Casa Toro genetics.
Billa Park’s leading sire, Billa Park High Impact H186 (P) was represented by 15 sons which averaged $8900.
