For a fun filled family day look no further than the Quilpie Show.
Taking place in September each year to coincide with the Birdsville Races, the small country town of Quilpie hosts a great day.
Opening at 9am on Saturday, September 8, the day is filled with stalls, entertainment, live music, pavilion competitions, kids rides, food and drink with rodeo and fireworks in the night.
Each year the community/show committee chooses a theme for the Show.
This year’s theme is Magic of Mulga.
The committee is inviting everyone to go see how the local businesses, schools, residents and competition entries interpret the theme with displays, poetry, artwork and much more on the day.
“Entertainment will consist of Noah’s Farm Pig Races who will run five races throughout the day,” a committee spokesman said.
“They will be accompanied by an excellent musician playing leading up to each race.
“For the children there are rides coming from Brisbane ranging from Big Drop to Bull and Gladiator rides.
“Circus Challenge will be here also with workshops and performances.
“Stilt walkers will be roaming the showground throughout the day.
“Get your teams together for the Truck Pull to be held late in the afternoon.
“Teams of four will compete against each other to pull a prime mover truck.
“Everyone should have a crack at the Sheep Counting competition as well.”
The pavilion will once again be the centre of competition at the show with a large number of categories to be judged.
These include Cut Flowers and Bulbs; Floral Art and Fruit; Vegetable and Eggs; Cookery; Sewing and Handcrafts; Literary and Handwriting; Art and Photography; Wool; and the pet and bike parades.
The pet parade is always a fun event with categories including Most Unusual Pet; Best Behaved Pet; Pet With Best Trick; Dog With Waggiest Tail and Best Dressed Animal.
There will also be a wide range of stalls at the show.
