A total of 403 head were yarded at Stariha Auctions Laidley cattle sale on Thursday.
The market for cows, bullocks and feeder cattle was dearer, with these cattle up over $100 per head and in demand from processors and feedlots. Younger cattle and veal remained firm.
The Reinke Family, Mt Sylvia, sold a line of 20 month old Santa steers for $1500 and milk tooth feeder steers for $1365. Bruce Greer, Flagstone Creek, sold Brangus cows to $1400 and 10 month old steers for $945.
The Evans family, Ma Ma Creek, sold a 21 month old Droughtmaster bull for $2050 and 8-10 month old weaners, with steers making $865 and heifers $720. Echo Valley Pastoral, Lowood, sold Limousin cows for $1300-$1460. David Molkentien, Lowood, sold Hereford cows for $1300.
Trevor Atkinson, Flagstone Creek, sold a British White bull for $1800. Craig Edwards, Hattonvale, sold a Charolais bull for $1920 and heifers for $1200. John Hudson, Ropeley, sold Angus cows for $1350 and 20-22 month old Droughtmaster steers for $1475-$1550.
Jaswindar Takhar, Thornlands, sold Santa cows for $1220 and 8 month old Santa males for $810. Des Westcott, Prenzlau, sold Angus cows for $1100. The Olm Family, Ropeley, sold a young Brahman bull for $1680 and store cows for $955.
Noel McGrath, Mulgowie, sold 15 month old Charbray steers for $1130. Daryl Herschell, Rosewood, sold 16 month old Santa steers for $1155. Graeme Squires, Townson, sold Droughtmaster weaner steers for $995. Carpendale Pty Ltd, sold Droughtmaster heifers for $800.
