A larger number of steers came forward at Friday’s Toogoolawah store sale.
Ron Dunning’s quality Charolais cross steers 20 mths sold for $1205. Charlie and Jackie Hawkins sold 768 Droughtmaster steers 12-18 mths, selling to $1000 with good competition and most buyers conscious of the drying seasonal conditions that gave spirited competition for this tremendous line.
Gemseekers P/L sold milk tooth Angus steers for $1150 and Charolais cross for $1140. Ross Milner, Baralaba, sold Angus cross weaner steers for $950. Duncan and Fiona Williamson sold Charolais cross weaner steers for $815, $835 and $750. Mount View Pastoral had Charolais cross steers for $800.
R&A Cattle had Charolais cross steers 18 mths for $1060. Adam Tschutura, Linville, sold impressive Charolais cross weaner steers for $900. Bell Trust had Droughtmaster cross steers 16 mths for $935. Wild family, Woodford, sold quality Droughtmaster steers 14 mths for $950. Olson Homestead, Dayboro, had Droughtmaster steers 16 mths for $875.
Bruce and Sue Retschlag sold Charolais cross steer calves for $700 and $615. Lester and Linda Heck sold quality Charolais cross weaner steers for $800. Mat Wyvill’s Charolais Droughtmaster steer calves sold for $730. Ben Hardy’s Charolais cross steer calves sold for $815, while Ian and Jillian Belz had Angus cross steer calves for $645.
MJ Horrocks, Gatton, sold 6 mths Charolais cross steers for $700. Rivermead’s Angus cross steer calves sold for $655. Brent Pratten, Kilcoy, sold young Charolais cross steer calves for $655. Dan Van Itallie, Jambin, sold Brahman cross steer calves for $670.
Quality heifers were in great demand with the younger and small weaner heifers finding a tougher market.

Ben Hardy’s Charolais cross heifers sold for $730. Younger and light weaner heifers sold in the $440 - $500 range with plain and light heifers selling for $350-$400.
PTIC cows were in great demand. Ben and Alice Roughen sold Droughtmaster cows 7-8 yrs PTIC for $1240 and $1230 and Charolais cross heifers for $1120. Rimbond P/L sold PTIC Droughtmaster cows for $1120.
