The livestock ring at CRT FarmFest 2018 was abuzz on Tuesday, with youngsters from 12- to 25-years-old filing in for the Young Paraders competition.
Top honours were eventually awarded to Lawrence Sehmish-Lahey, Goondiwindi, and Amavale Nicholas N2, after fierce competition against 92 other entrants.
Mr Sehmish-Lahey said he was thrilled to be taking home the title.
“It was a great competition with a thorough judge which made it a good day for all involved,” he said.
“My bull got a little bit lazy towards the end, but he’s a great animal.
“He held himself well in the ring and was well-behaved.”
Competition over-judge, Ben Toll, St Johns College, Dubbo said there was some tough competition in the ring but the experience of the top two competitors shone through.
“The guy that was selected to win was the most efficient, his ring-craft was really good, he was alert, and he was aware of what was going on with his animal,” Mr Toll said.
“He pretty much picked himself because overall he had the highest set of skills and the presentation of his animal and the equipment he had on the animal was spot on.”
Reserve champion young parader was awarded to Alex Holmes, Warwick, and his heifer, Oakmore Granda.
