This afternoon at around 2pm the RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service was tasked to a property 60km south-west of Rockhampton near Gogango where it was reported an 86-year-old man suffered severe burns to over 50 per cent of his body.
It is believed the man and his wife were burning off some rubbish when the wind picked up and the fire became out of control.
The man’s wife alerted her husband who went to investigate but it seems the man has fallen over in the process.
The fire has somehow trapped the man and inundated him leaving him severely burnt.
The on-board Critical Care Paramedic in conjunction with the Queensland Ambulance Service stabilised the patient at the scene.
The man was flown to the Rockhampton Hospital in a serious condition.
