This year is shaping up as a significant one for celebration in our industry.
The Australian Cotton Conference will be held August 7 to 9 on the Gold Coast. The event organisers have set an ambitious target to beat the 1,956 delegate registrations achieved in 2016, which would make it the largest cotton gathering ever.
This year's program focuses on the theme of Pushing Boundaries, and the volunteer organising committee is working hard to ensure the program and speakers are relevant and engaging.
The conference will kick off with a keynote address from international futurist Thomas Frey, whose skills at predicting the future for business and industries will provide a thought-provoking start to the three-day event.
The conference will be paired with massive trade show, with an anticipated 100 exhibitors providing a focal point for the critical networking and socialising that brings the industry together during conference, as well as showcasing new products and technologies.

In further celebration of our industry, nominations have opened for the 2018 Australian Cotton Industry Awards, which recognise excellence and high achievement throughout the supply chain.
These annual awards acknowledge the hard work of everyone in the industry, from growers and ginners to product suppliers, consultants, agronomists, researchers and others.
Nominations are open to both individuals and teams, and anyone in the industry can nominate themselves or others. Cash prizes are on offer for the successful recipients of the 2018 Australian Cotton Industry Awards, which has five categories:
- Monsanto Grower of the Year
- AgriRisk High Achiever of the Year
- ADAMA Chris Lehmann Trust Young Cotton Achiever of the Year
- Cotton Seed Distributors Researcher of the Year
- Incitec Pivot Service to Industry Award
