CENTRAL Queensland’s unique specialist equine breeding and training facility Lonesome Dove will be auctioned in Rockhampton on February 27.
Jointly marketed by Jim Lyons Agency and Hourn & Bishop Qld, the 129 hectare (321 acre) property was planned and developed by cattleman and master horseman William Tapp.
The developed brigalow country is divided into seven paddocks, connected by a laneway to three large steel and cable holding yards, that lead to an undercover vet crush with steel and concrete loading ramp.
The equine facilities have been purposely designed to provide safe easy management of valuable horses, from broodmare care, through to foaling, growing, breaking and training and include the following Improvements. A large 54x15m Ranbuild shed which covers 10 individual 6x6m stables with feed bins and auto drinkers, four of which have large day yards.
There is a feed room plus tack room and wide bull nosed covered patio area overlooking the lawns and a full size cut out yard and campdraft arena that is capable of running full scale competition. Close behind the stable complex is a large eight horse walker and round yard.
The 42x30m covered equestrian arena with yards and spectator viewing platform, provides for all weather training of young horses, and an instruction area for horsemanship clinics which have been a successful part of the business conducted by some of Australia’s leading horse experts. There is also a 24x15m Ranbuild shed with power and water used for machinery storage.
Tropical inspired living is provided by the accommodation complex. It has a large covered outdoor living area, including a colonial kitchen overlooking the arena complex with uninterrupted views to the east. The living room, two bedrooms and office, are air conditioned, plus there is a third bedroom, two bathrooms, laundry and third toilet. Attached to the rear of the accommodation area is a large enclosed shed for truck, gooseneck, and vehicle parking.
This property is described as suiting the serious equine enthusiast, or alternatively suit a stud cattle operator or fitting service.
