Plenty of old bushranger stories were aired when Karen Knight-Mudie’s newest exhibition documenting the exploits of the Kenniff brothers was unveiled at the Injune Creek Gallery last Friday.
A terrific crowd was in attendance, all in good spirits sharing their tales of bushrangers they have known, and appreciating Karen’s magical artworks.
They included Jim Allbeck of Wallumbilla, who went to work at Mt Moffatt as a 14-year-old, and Brenda Vincent, nee Waldron, who was two years old when she first went there with her parents and three sisters, in the 1930s.
A local Injune legend, Brenda spent most of her life on the property and her three sons have all settled in the Injune area, while her daughter lives at Springsure.
The Injune exhibition is part two of the Moonlight in Moffatt collection, which concentrates on the exploits of the Queensland high country duffers.
Part one consists of original artworks drawn on brown paper, and was reopened at Mitchell on Saturday.
