A total of 611 head of cattle were sold at Stariha Auctions Laidley cattle sale on Thursday. The market remained very strong for all types, with meatworks, feedlots and restockers all chasing cattle. Lines of quality heifers were in demand from graziers chasing breeders.

Kevin Maguire, Ingoldsby, sold a Droughtmaster bull for $2160. Red Brahman cattle from the Lockyer were in demand, with bulls selling for $1700, 22 month old heifers for $1300, 14 month old heifers for $1240 and 8 month old heifers for $905. Hoger Brothers, Ropeley, sold a 14 month old Charolais bull for $1320. The Evans Family, Ma Ma Creek, sold Droughtmaster heifers, 12-14 months, for $1090-1170. Kammholz Farms, Brightview, sold 20 month old Santa steers for $1375.
Robert Crosby, Laidley, sold 18-22 month old Droughtmasters, with steers making $1200, heifers for $1060 and weaner steers for $1035. Rodney Steinhardt, Marburg, sold 20 month old Droughtmaster steers for $1300. Pat Ryan, Junction View, sold milk tooth feeder steers for $1340. Bruce Greer, Flagstone Creek, sold quality Brangus weaner steers for $995-$1130. The Tillack Family, Gatton, sold 12 month old Charolais weaners, with steers making $1040 and heifers $1060. Col and Marg Duncan, Flagstone Creek, sold 8-10 month old Charolais weaners, with both steers and heifers making $900. E&L Washband, Tarampa, sold 10 month old Limousin bulls for $1010-$1100. Carpendale P/L sold Droughtmaster cows and calves for $1520-$1620. Debra Swan, Ropeley, sold cows and calves for $1500.
