Children in some of Queensland’s most remote communities will be the beneficiaries of this year’s Bush Christmas Exhibition with organisers announcing they will again support the Isolated Children’s Parents’ Association Qld Inc. (ICPA).
The annual exhibition has supported ICPA Qld for the past 10 years with over $100,000 being donated through raffles and voluntary donations from exhibitors.
Bush Christmas Exhibition Organiser, Liz McClymont, advised she was proud to be able to support ICPA Qld.
“ICPA Qld is a voluntary, not for profit lobby group dedicated to ensuring all rural and remote students in Queensland have access to a quality education,” Liz said.
“We saw a perfect alignment between our exhibitors and the purpose of ICPA. Many of our artists themselves are from remote areas of Queensland and have experienced the challenges of educating children in the bush.
“ICPA Qld is such a dedicated and professional body and we are pleased to be able to support their great work.”
Kim Hughes, ICPA Qld President said the funds received from Bush Christmas has been extremely welcome.
“Ensuring children in rural and remote areas have full access to quality educational resources and services is just so important.
“Often faced with the challenges of distance, ICPA Qld lobbies for improved access to the internet, more support for teachers and students and access to affordable educational options.
“Our goal is to ensure that every Queensland child can receive a quality education, no matter where their home is located.
“Funds secured from Bush Christmas events has assisted in lobbying for educational equity for rural and remote students.”
Members of ICPA Qld will be onsite at this year’s Bush Christmas Exhibition fundraising through daily raffle draws.
The Bush Christmas Exhibition will run from Thursday 30 November to Saturday 9 November at the Masonic Hall, 58 Neil St, Toowoomba.
