Hodson started his career when living in Townsville but now calls Emerald in Queensland home.
He went into the national finals second in the all around and won enough money at the finals to secure the Australian Professional Rodeo Association all around cowboy title buckle.
Hodson capped off a great four days with the rope and tie title and joined with Charters Towers cowboy Liam Davison to win the team roping. The pair won the title and the average at the finals with three second placings. Two combinations each won two rounds of team roping, Queensland riders Clancy Middleton and Brody Moss along with Victorian pair Terry Evison and Aaron Bookluck.
In the battle for the all around cowgirl title, Ellysa Kenny had five top-four finishes to secure the title at age 16.
She started the national finals with a second in round 1 of the breakaway roping and finished with a fourth in the barrel race in round 4 on Sunday. She was first in breakaway roping in round 2 on Friday night and had a second and fourth in round 3.
Two riders won three rounds of the national finals to secure titles for most money won during the season and the average for best total score/time over four rounds at the finals.
Jorja Iker from Alton Downs in Queensland won three rounds of breakaway roping, the title and the average.
Cameron’s Corner rider Fred Osman travelled from the south west corner of Queensland to win three bareback rounds, the title and average.
The average winners in all events had four scores or times except the bull ride where Cooyar (Qld) star Jack McArthur won the title and average with a score of 87.5 in round 1.
Only three bull riders had times out of 60 rides, McArthur and Brady Fielder from Queensland and Victorian bull rider Sam Woodall.
South Australian cowgirl Amanda Tielen travelled the furthest to win two rounds of the barrel race and win the average with two wins, a second and a third.
