THE Meldon Park Simmental Bull Sale was held at the Billabong sale complex at Moura today, and saw an average of $7588.
The sale saw 68 of 72 offered bulls sell for a gross of $516,000 and a clearance of 94 per cent.
The sale topped at $14,000 for lot five, Meldon Park L66, who sold to Stew Nobbs, Yandaburra, Moura.
Mr Nobbs purchased three bulls at the sale grossing $35,500 for an average of $11,833.
L66, a scurred bull who tipped the scales at 1110kg, boasted an EMA of 146cm sq, and a scrotal circumference of 45cm.
The second top priced bull of the sale was lot 28, Navillus Park M12, a polled bull weighing 834kg with an EMA of 136cm sq, and a scrotal circumference of 37.5cm.
He sold for $13,000 to Brett Nobbs, Nobbs Cattle Co, Duaringa.
The volume buyers of the sale were three buyers who each went home with four bulls apiece.
LKH Grazing, Wynyard, Clermont, grossed $28,500 for an average of $7125, MJ and MC McQueen, Weston Station, Winton, grossed $26,000 for an average of $6500, and Hillview Cattle Company, Clermont, grossed $14,500 for an average of $3625.
Going home with three bulls apiece were Murray Smith, Palmgrove, Moura, who grossed $20,500 for an average of $6833, DW and SM Campbell, Gin Gin, who grossed $17,000 for an average of $5666, and the Kerr family, Reece Park, Munduberra, who grossed $15,000 for an average of $5000.
The third top priced bull of the sale was Meldon Park Lightning Jack, who was the senior champion bull at the Ekka this year.
Lightning Jack, a 1102kg bull of 27 months old age, boasted an EMA of 141cm sq, and a scrotal circumference of 44cm.
He sold for $12,500 to LG Franz, Maumbar.
Also selling well were Meldon Park L65, who sold for $12,000 to CJ and LL Connolly, Krismark Downs, Theodore, and KBV Legacy, who sold for $12,000 over the phone to Janet Newlands, Hirstglen.
Meldon Park’s Rodney Skene said he was exceptionally happy with the result of the sale on the back of a tough season.
