WITH temperatures expected to spike this week, snakes will be on the move, says Redlands snake expert Tony Morrison.

It comes as no surprise to Jeanette Dean who found a carpet python on her fence at Mount Cotton on Monday morning.
“The snake was pretty quiet for an hour, then slithered along the fence and into the garden,” she said.
Neighbours, who found it in the road on Monday evening, relocated it to nearby bush to prevent it being run over.
Ms Dean estimated the snake was about 3.5 metres long.
Mr Morrison said snakes did not hibernate, but were less active in winter.
“Their metabolism is slower so they eat less,” he said.
Mr Morrison said as temperatures increased so did the sightings of snakes.
He said carpet pythons were common in Redlands.
“They are quite happy living in suburbia,” he said.
“However, they are mostly out and about at night so aren’t often seen during the day.”
