Over 200 head of livestock were entered in this year’s Queensland Dairy Showcase to compete for $23,000 in prizes and trophies.

Held at Gatton Showgrounds last week, Queensland Dairy Showcase Committee secretary Trevor Beckingham reported very good participation in the competition with exhibitor entry numbers up on last year.
“We had a good range of exhibitors from across the State and I think we will be the biggest dairy show in Queensland this year,” Mr Beckingham said.
“We had very good feedback from all the participants, sponsors and the general public with all saying our show is one of the best dairy exhibitions they come too!”
The Supreme Dairy Cow was awarded to Adadale HG Melody exhibited by the Paulger family, Adadale Stud at Kenilworth near Gympie.
Runner-up was Glencrest Sprite Supermodel cow exhibited by Rodney Teese.
“The cow was an outstanding animal with good dairy cow characteristics and was a credit to the dairy industry,” Mr Beckingham said.
“We also had a very strong youth competition and that’s really outstanding to get such great support from people as young as seven-years-old and up to 25 years of age.”
The event also included this year’s Jersey State Feature Show.
“We had some of the best Jersey cattle on show and we now have the cream of the dairy industry exhibiting at our event,” Mr Beckingham said.
Champion Jersey Cow was awarded to overall Queensland Dairy Showcase champion Adadale HG Melody.
Reserve Champion Jersey Cow also went to the Paulger family’s Adadale GP Rowena 32.
An honorable mention was awarded to Yandavale Ressurection Fiona 2 Twin exhibited by Darrin and Jeanette Grevett.
Intermediate Champion Jersey Female went to Glen Echo Moon Lady exhibited by Chad and Carita Parker.
“We’re not taking the issues in the dairy industry lying down and we are out there promoting an industry that’s here for the long-term,” Mr Beckingham said.
