Angus steers top Toowoomba at 384.2c


Export lines were in light supply but the market was mainly firm across the board at Toowoomba cattle sale on July 24.


A total yarding of 850 cattle were yarded at Elders Harristown Saleyards on July 24. Export lines were in light supply, with the market mainly firm.

Best bulls from Errol Fuller, Goombungee sold to a 258.2c/kg or $2491. Heavy boner bullocks ex Nobby weighing 640kg returned $1722. Feeder steers from LP&LJ Curtis, Ravensbourne averaged 323c to return $1380.

Heavy heifers from Mike and Mary Donohoe, Mt Darry weighing 486kg reached 281.2c to return $1366. Best cows from SJ&MA Sargood, Kingsthorpe topped 226.2c. Heavy trade steers from Ray Black weighing 495kg reached 311.2c to return $1542 with heifer portion weighing 445kg sold for 307.2c.

Feeder steers suitable for the trade from Patricia Shannon and Brendan McCormack sold to 346.2c with a pen of quality weaner Hereford store steers from JOK McPhail, Goombungee weighing 291kg and selling to 369.2c or $1075.

Lightweight Angus steers from Binney Pastoral, Bunya Mountains topped the day at 384.2c.
