Police seek to find old owner of cabinet with $25,500 inside

The cabinet was purchased at a recycling market, little did the new owner know what was inside.

Nanango police are appealing for public assistance to help find the original owner of a television cabinet purchased from a recycling market which later was found to contain $25,500.

A member of the public purchased the cabinet (pictured below) from the Hervey Bay Recycling Market on Chapel Road and Aarlborg Road, North Nikenbah on June 27.

While unloading the cabinet at home, one of the draws opened and a container with $25,500 cash inside fell out.

The new owner presented the cash to officers at Nanango police station.

Police want to reunite the money with the original cabinet owner and are appealing for anyone who may have information about the cabinet two months prior to June 27 to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
