IT WAS a battle between siblings at the Callide Dawson Beef Carcase Competition when Guthrie and Bonnie Maynard outstripped their parents in the awards.

While Geoff and Alison, Mt Eugene, Jambin took home a second place in the pen of grainfed heifers (195.24 points), it was their children who were the competitions big winners.
Bonnie, who is in Year 12 at The Rockhampton Grammar School, pipped her older brother at the post when she won the best live weight gain in feedlot heifer with 2.87kg/day result.

Guthrie took out the second place with 2.75kg and also tied for second in the steers with 2.78kg/day.
The Maynards run a seedstock operation breeding and selling bulls plus have been entering the CDBCC since 1988.
With 1200 Senepol/Belmont Red-cross breeders, Geoff said he was thrilled with the family’s joint results.
“The only losers were mum and dad - we had to share a second,” he laughed.
Guthrie is a second year diesel fitter and Bonnie was at home to help out with weaning over the holidays.
