Heavy steers 286c at Roma prime

Roma prime steers make 286c


The female market remained strong at Roma prime sale this week with just a handful of quality yearling heifers purchased to go back on feed selling at 354c/kg.


A total yarding of 959 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s prime sale on Thursday, June 15.

Steers over 550kg sold to 286c/kg and averaged 269c, while steers in the 400-550kg sold to 299c, averaging 268c.

NW&BE York, Myalla, Wallumbilla, sold Hereford-cross steers for 286c at 600kg returning $1717.

Heifers over 450kg made to 290c and averaged 271c, and heifers in the 350-450kg range sold at a top of 275c, averaging 258c.

Yarrawonga Cattle Co, Yarrawonga, Wallumbilla, sold Santa heifers for 290c at 614kg returning $1781. The Santa cows sold for 244c at 611kg returning $1492.

Dalco Pty Ltd, Sugarloaf, Wallumbilla, sold Santa-cross heifers for 279c at 523kg returning $1461. The Brahman-cross cows sold for 235c at 583kg returning $1372.

WL&MA Bryant, Cytherea, Mitchell, sold Droughtmaster-cross heifers for 275c at 443kg returning $1220.

WB&MG Graham, Catherinevale, Roma, sold Hereford-cross heifers for 254c at 450kg returning $1143.

Cows over 500kg peaked at 280c and averaged 230c, while cows in the 400-500kg class topped at 235c and averaged 214c. Cows 300-400kg sold to 180c and averaged 127c.

Ellangowan P/L, Ellangowan, Augathella, sold Charbray-cross cows for 239c at 630kg returning $1506.

Dart Pastoral Co, Keen Gea, Torrens Creek, sold Droughtmaster-cross cows for 238c at 608kg returning $1449.

WL&MA Bryant, Cytherea, Mitchell, sold Brahman-cross cows for 230c at 406kg returning $1058.

W&K Brown, Ardentrive, Roma, sold Angus-cross cows for 227c at 620kg returning $1408.

Bulls over 600kg earned to 273c and averaged 240c.
