Burnett Livestock and Realty’s meatworks and store sale held on Monday 20 March saw a yarding 1024 of head. Due to the wet conditions, a very limited number of bullocks were yarded and cows sold to increased rates. Store cattle remained the same but there was more confidence in the market with the wide spread rain.

Bullocks sold to top at 268c. Cows over 500kg topped at 241c. Cows 400kg to 500kg topped at 228c. Trade heifers over 400kg topped at 281c. Kirsty Ingram, Gayndah sold Brahman cows for 234c/$1124. Paul Slack, Gayndah sold Brahman cows for 241c/$1303. Arn Horwood F/T, Gin Gin sold Limousin cows for 238c/$1230. Trevor Wormington, Mt Perry sold Brahman cross cows for 239c/$1291.
Feeder steers 400kg to 500kg sold to a top of 315c while steers 300kg to 400kg sold to 331c. Georcamat Trust, Biggenden sold a line of No 6 Brangus steers from 302c-315c/$1030-$1392. Webster Grazing, Eidsvold sold milk and two tooth Droughtmaster steers for 311c/$1268. Taylor & Vollmer, Mundubbera sold milk tooth Droughtmaster steers for 331c/$1026. The Tucker family, Booyal sold milk tooth Santa steers for 337c/$910.
Steers 200kg to 300kg sold to 366c. Trevor Gordon Holdings, Gayndah sold Droughtmaster cross weaner steers for 346c/$907. MG&MN Allen, Thangool sold Simbrah weaner steers for 366c-398c/$650-$888. Lazy K Training Stables, Miriam Vale sold Charbray weaner steers for 350c/$922.
Heifers 300kg to 400kg sold to a top 309c. Heifers 200kg to 300kg topped at 320c. Ilgarra Farming, Childers sold milk tooth Gelbvieh heifers for 285c/$926. PA&J Gardiner, Monto sold milk tooth Droughtmaster cross heifers for 283c/$898. Dermark P/L, Gayndah sold Droughtmaster weaner heifers for 302c/$772. Hawthorden Pastoral Co, Waterloo sold Droughtmaster and Senepol cross weaner heifers for 305c/$756. Nichols & Langton, Mt Perry sold Murray Grey weaner heifers for 309c/$927.
LJ&JS Kapernick, Gin Gin sold Brangus cows with Speckle Park calves for $1450. GJ&H Chappell, Bundaberg sold Droughtmaster cross cows and calves for $1300.
Cattle were drawn from Thangool, Monto, Tansey, Eidsvold, Mundubbera, Mt Perry, Gayndah, Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Childers, Bundaberg, Waterloo, Takilberan, Bucca, Rosedale, Lowmead, Miriam Vale, Gin Gin, Booyal and all local areas.
The next Biggenden meatworks and store sale is Monday April 3.
