The yarding at Dalby this week improved by 32 per cent to 5288 head, due to a combination of confidence in the market, and some areas missing out on rain.
Overall quality was generally good with only small samples of poorer quality lines. A large panel of buyers were in attendance and most were operating in a firm to dearer market.
Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed sold to very strong demand and export processors lifted prices on heavy grown steers and bullocks, lifting prices by 7c to 10c/kg with the younger lines attracting a premium.
Cows experienced some improvement in places with the medium weight 2 scores keenly sought after.
Medium weight yearling steers averaged 367.7c with heavy weights making from 294.2c to 358.2c and averaging 344.9c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made from 320c to 350.2c to average 334.7c/kg.
Grown steers to feed in the 400-500kg range were up by 6c averaging 322.3c with medium weight grown heifers up by 13c and averaging 263.2c/kg. Medium weight cows averaged 250c with heavy weights averaging at 253.8c/kg. The best bull made to 334.2c/kg.
