The Great Southern Brahman Female sale held at Silverdale Selling Complex, on Saturday saw quality grey Brahman females sell to a top of $5500 and average $2370.

Joint selling agents Elders and Hayes and Company lifted the sale average by $658 on last year’s sale and cleared 96 per cent of the catalogue.
Elders stud stock specialist Michael Smith of Toowoomba said there was good local support.
“Buyers coming from the Northern Rivers of New South Wales and Central Queensland saw very encouraging results and an improvement on last year with a good clearance,” he said.
“It’s good to have some rain around the district, which gave the sale a boost.”
Springhaven Snow White (AI) (H), a grey brahman heifer offered by the David and Luke Allen, Springhaven Brahman Stud, Spring Grove, New South Wales, topped the sale at $5500.
She was purchased by Nicole, Alyshia and James Jovanovic of Scenic Rim Brahmans to use as a show heifer.
Leading the sale average was Tony Zischke, Dry Creek Brahman Stud,Buaraba, who sold three grey females to average $4166. Topping his run at $4500 was Dry Creek Footy, with a heifer calf at foot, which was also the top priced cow and calf unit of the sale.
Lynn Walther, Roseborough L Brahman Stud, sold six red Brahmans for an average of $3416.
Five of the six heifers sold went to BKC Brahmans, Maidenwell, who purchased a total of nine females for their stud.
Included in their sale team was the $4250 top priced red Brahman heifer, Roseborough L Stella 377/6,(P), a 12 month old daughter of Mt Callan Kojak 105/10 (P) which sold to Chris McCarthy Stockman Brahmans, Junction View,
Overall, four cow and calf units sold to average $3125 and 44 heifers averaged $2250.
Sale spokesman Tony Zischke said he was very pleased with the results and looked forward to next year's sale. He thanked all bidders, underbidders, vendors and the Elders and Hayes and Co teams for all their support.
