THE Queensland Rural Regional and Remote Women’s Network (QRRRWN) hosted its Time For Giving event in Brisbane last week at Panda Pearls Emporium to celebrate 2016 as well as QRRRWN’s 2017 plans to connect, develop and inspire rural, regional and remote women.
Gathering at the boutique store at Nundah, Brisbane, the group heard from inspirational guest speaker, successful author and publisher Bev Ryan, who shared stories and firsthand experience about the excitement and fulfillment of self-publishing.
Bev encouraged the audience, commenting that “the power of publishing your own work to elevate you to a place of influence and respect among your clients, peers and colleagues is immense”.
Amanda Stein, Panda Pearls proprietor and long term QRRRWN partner was on hand to present QRRRWN’s Young RRR Woman of the Year award to Jessica Kerr for her work with Queensland Shows, recognising her leadership and encouragement of young people to become involved in the show movement.
QRRRWN President Alison Mobbs was really happy with the event.
“To be supported by such amazing women, both those who have attended tonight and those who have supported us throughout the year is incredible.
We also couldn’t continue the work that we do without partners and supporters who make events like this possible,” she said.
She said QRRRWN was looking forward to the new year and undertaking new projects and challenges and welcoming new and old members to events across the state.
