A strong lineup of 65 – 33 Red and 32 Grey – Brahman bulls have been handpicked by 11 leading vendors from across the state for the Gold City Brahman Sale being held on Friday, November 4 at the Dalrymple Saleyards, Charters Towers.
Australian Brahman Breeders Association (ABBA) general manager John Croaker said the sale catalogue consists of a select line of bulls that have been kept back by vendors through the year so they have attractive drafts to put through the sale ring when the bidding starts at 9am.
Some of the most well regarded Brahman breeders in the state will have bulls on offer at the sale including: Laguna Brahmans; Savannah Brahmans; Gunnawarra J Brahmans; GI Brahman Stud; Thagoona Brahmans; Eskwood Brahmans; Annavale Brahmans; Glenborough Brahman Stud; Wallton Downs; Bungarribee Brahman Stud and Kangarin Brahmans.
“We’ve seen strong demand for Brahman bulls in the paddock all through the year, which was capped by an overall great result during Brahman Week,” Mr Croaker said.
“Wallton Downs and Bungarribee will be coming to the sale on the back of sensational performances with their respective top price Reds reaching $55,000 and $85,000 respectively,” he said.
“Obviously Brahman Week broke records for averages but the Gold City vendors are realistic about the state of the north, and that producers in the region are still recovering after several years of drought.”
He said the said the appeal of the Gold City sale is that it gives northern producers an opportunity to buy good quality bulls right in their backyard.
“Having the sale at Charters Towers makes it convenient for northern buyers to attend, and truck the bulls they purchase back home.”
He said the catalogue should prove attractive to buyers as 24 of the 33 Reds and 16 of the 32 Greys being offered are polled or scurred.
All sale bulls have been semen evaluated and vet checked for breeding soundness. They will be pre-treated for tick clearance post-sale.
Pre-sale inspections are welcome on Thursday, November 3 from 4pm, with complimentary drinks and snacks will be available from 5.30pm.
Freight rebates are being offered for buyers of five or more bulls who are travelling at least 300 kilometres, with higher rebates being offered to buyers from Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
