Welcome once again to Sheep Shape.
I mentioned in our first monthly column, a number of sheep industry workshops currently available for producers nationally.
These included Bred Well Fed Well, Ram Select and Life Time Ewe programs.
BWFW’s are a hands-on workshop covering how to breed better ewes, improve ewe nutrition, develop breeding goals and feed budgets.
One workshop, sponsored by Elanco, will have been held at St George by the time this column hits the press.
If you are interested in co-organising and/or attending future workshops please contact me for further information.
Leading Sheep are also holding a series of ‘Sheep Made Easy’ workshops during June.
I will be involved with workshops scheduled for Augathella (Angela and Lionel Smith, Buckey’s Creek) and Bollon (Richard and Maureen Knights, Acme Downs) on June 13th and 15th respectively.
We will look to discuss a range of topics including functional yards, sheep handlers and equipment and reducing production costs.
I’ll also discuss proactive grazing management to minimize the need for supplementary feeding, targeting better genetics and developing 'easy-care' sheep.
To attend these free workshops just register on line at http://www.leadingsheep.com.au/event-list/.
Remember, if you have a topic of interest you’d like to discuss in the next Sheep Shape Column feel free to contact me at geoff@sheepsolutions.com.au.
