THOUSANDS of people poured through the gates of the Boonah Showgrounds on Friday for the first day of the 2016 Boonah Show.
It was all happening on a warm day at the annual Boonah Show with dog shows, cattle shows, side show alley, food stalls, arts and craft displays, vegetable displays and more.
The Boonah show was revamped this year, with organisers bringing back old favourite events, expanding the weekend with two full show days and a new date.
Chief steward of the horticulture section Robyn Freiberg said the first day of the show shaped up well.
“There’s people around today and of course Friday is the dog judging and I think that’s a record showing with a lot of entries,” she said.
Ms Freiberg said hot and dry weather conditions coupled with a later show date made it harder to fill the flower pavilion, but there was still plenty to see.
“People have really rallied to fill the section,” she said.
“We’re really happy with what we got.”
Saturday at the Boonah Show is set to be a cracker with chainsaw races, sheepdog trials, wood chopping and more.
