Committed to supporting the growth and development of the region’s young and disadvantaged job seekers Western Downs Regional Council has put the call out for four new tainees to join the team.
Council currently has four traineeship positions available in Business and Horticulture;
The new trainees will gain 12 months full-time employment with Council and a nationally recognised qualification at the completion of their traineeship;
The four successful candidates will join Council’s existing trainees that commenced earlier this year as well as the current graduate trainees.
The trainees will gain hands-on experience across a variety of areas within Council, and will be supported in securing full-time employment once they’ve completed their studies.
Chief Executive Officer Mr Ross Musgrove said supporting career development through Traineeships means a greater opportunity for Council to back the region’s young and disadvantaged job seekers.
“Trainees play an important role in our organisation, and I am delighted that we are able to offer these additional Traineeships,” he said.
“If you have plenty of enthusiasm and a willingness to learn new skills, then a traineeship can set you on a great career path for the future, and provides the opportunity to gain a qualification and earn a wage at the same time.
“The horticulture traineeships are great for those who enjoy working outdoors, or if you’re interested in kick-starting your career in business administration then we’d love to see you send in your applications.
Mr Musgrove said these traineeships aren’t just for school-leavers, and can provide career progression for a mature-aged job seeker, a mother re-entering the workforce, or for those who have only just recently moved to our region.
“Council’s Early Career Development Program caters for many career options including cadetships and work experience, creating valuable opportunities for our communities in a supportive environment to improve qualifications and face new challenges,” he said.
Successful candidates will gain experiences across a variety of areas, while being fully supported throughout their Traineeship.
