KIDS with a love of cattle travelled to Warwick last week to attend the 18th Annual National Santa Gertrudis Junior Show.
Over six days, 90 participants took part in the camp, learning about judging, parading, animal handling and, of course, making friends in the industry.
Deputy president of the Santa Gertrudis Breeders’ Association and camp organiser Dennis Moxey said they were pleased with the result.
“The camp’s been running for over 25 years now in different locations around Australia,” he said.
“Our main focus is on the education of the kids and giving them an experience with cattle and teaching them how to handle cattle and look after them.
“It’s amazing what they do and what they can learn and the number of kids that keep on coming back to hone their skills in cattle judging and cattle parading.”
Queensland Country Life’s Melody Pedler attended the camp on January 18 to watch the first round of the young judges’ competition.
