Meanwhile construction of 80 new selling pens and a roofed cattle delivery/drafting facility is underway at the Dalby Regional Saleyards at Western Downs.
“We’re up on last weeks yarding of 5200 head and this week we’ll see a good run of mixed quality cattle from both local and western stock,” Mr Hoffmann said.
“Tomorrow’s sale will see a strong market after lower numbers in the last few months with the cattle from the Downs well-conditioned for feedlot and works.”
Mr Hoffmann said sales since the New Year have seen the number of cattle yarded fluctuate though buyers have been very supportive of the weekly sales.
Dalby Landmark livestock agent Brock Simpkins said there would be a good cross-section of all breeds at the April 17 sale.
“Dalby is seeing a few more Brahmans featuring in the line-up coming from western parts of Queensland due to dry weather,” Mr Simpkins said.
“Buyers can expect plenty of store cows and a good cross section of light-weight weaners.”
Stage one of two is expected to cost around $5.6 million with completion of the pens due in September.
