NEGOTIATIONS are said to be continuing on the 4412ha (10,900 acre) Charters Towers property Red Hill after it was passed in at an Elders auction for $1.55 million.

Located 115km north of Charters Towers and 100km south west of Townsville, Red Hill is estimated to carry 1000 mixed cattle. The freehold property was offered with 276 cattle plus plant.
Marketing agent Lorin Bishop, Elders, described Red Hill as a good balance of fertile frontage country with open forest and gravelly red ridges.
The property is heavily grassed with black spear, blue grass, Indian couch, with improved species including seca, urochloa and buffel well established.
Improvements include a basic homestead, quarters, sheds, yards, seven paddocks and 15km of laneways.
"There were three bidders at the auction," Mr Bishop told Queensland Country Life.
"We are now negotiating with one party at a higher figure."
The auction was held in Jupiters Casino, Townsville.
