FOLLOWING the lacklustre results at selling centres across Queensland last week, the Blackall and Longreach cattle sales, scheduled for May 8 and 9, have been cancelled due to insufficient numbers.

Grant, Daniel and Long agent Jack Burgess said with meatworks being booked out four to six weeks in advance, it is restricting meatworks operators in the saleyards.
“Longreach and Blackall cattle sales have been cancelled this week due to lower prices resulting in lack of numbers and also limited restock buying support, due to dry weather conditions in local and northern areas,” he said.
