Queensland Country Life has been told the steer section of the 5000 head yarding appears to be averaging about $450 a head.
Although prices are down by about $90 on last year's sale, plenty of cattle producers appear pleased with the sale, given the drought conditions over much of West and North Queensland.
The market is being supported by a terrific local season.
