TWENTY-THREE studs from as far afield as South Australia are battling it out at the 2013 State Sheep Show in Roma today.

The two-day show has attracted 132 Merino and Poll Merino sheep from 14 Queensland studs, eight NSW based studs and one South Australian stud.
Queensland Merino Stud Sheepbreeders Association (QMSSA) president and Barcaldine Downs Merino Stud manager, Duncan Ferguson, praised his fellow exhibitors on the quality of the sheep competing in the 2013 show.
“People are really making an effort to improve the quality of their sheep and that’s been reflected in the incredible depth of quality here today,” he said.
“Our numbers are up this year and I think Roma was an excellent location for a State Sheep Show given its close location to the southern States.”
