BUYERS had large numbers of carefully selected bulls from 12 breeds to choose from at the Ag-Grow 2013 Queensland Superior Beef bull sale this week, and they were selective about what they bought.

The sale saw 107 bulls average $3869 for a 72 per cent clearance.
The sale topped at $8000 for a Charolais bull purchased by Clermont cattle producer, David Dennis.
Overall, 40 Charolais bulls averaged $3603.
A pair of Angus bulls hit the $7500 mark and were both bought by Bill Sylvester, Arcadia, Injune.
The sale saw 24 Angus bulls average $5333.
Four bulls sold at the $7000 mark including a used Billa Park Simmental show sire, a polled Moongool Angus herd bull, an Ascot Cattle Co Angus/Simmental cross bull and a Marellan 25 month old registered Shorthorn offering.
A total of 21 Simmental bulls averaged $4175; Brangus bulls topped at $2500 and averaged $2500, and Wallawong Murray Greys hit a high of $3500 and averaged $2750.
Three Romagnolas offered by Matt and Anna Ahern topped at $3000 and averaged $2667.
A Goombaburra Red Simmental sold for $4500 while Red Simmentals averaged $3500.
Gelbviehs topped at $2500 to average $2500.
One Santa Gertrudis bull sold for $2500 and a single Charbray lot paid $3000.
