A TOTAL of 5800 head of cattle were penned at Tuesday's Roma store sale, with numbers falling by 4400 head from the previous week.

Patchy rainfall across the region appeared to attract more restocker buyers to the sale and prices improved for the lightweight steers.
It was a mixed quality yarding, which contained large numbers of calves.
In some early sales, Rob and Lisa McQueen, Strathfillan, Winton, sold 161kg Braford calves for 184c/kg to make $297/head.
Cameron Fraser Grazing, Culburnie, Barcaldine, sold 369kg Santa steers to 178c/$657.
G&M Scott, Ruby Farm, Wallumbilla, sold 318kg Charolais-cross steers for 178c/$566.
Bangor Cattle Co, Bangor, Mungallala, sold 430kg Charolais-cross steers to 176c/$759.
E&C Rolfe, Nindinna, Roma, sold 360kg Charolais-cross steers to 174c/$627.
