Eastern Rural livestock manager Peter Bird, Dalby, said the reduced yarding had boosted prices by up to 15c/kg in places.
“We’ve seen a market that’s improved on last week’s rates and there are more good cattle to come through the morning,” he said.
“Bullocks into the early 180c/kg range and some good cows have made to 140c.”
Mr Bird said areas around Dalby had received between 20mm – 30mm of rain, however not much rain was received past Tara.
Meat and Livestock Australia's National Livestock Reporting Service reported a full panel of export processors and feeder buyers were present at the sale and most were operating.
Prices for the shorter supply generally improved across all categories, with young cattle 8c to 14c/kg dearer.
Heavy grown steers and bullocks improved by 5c to 12c. Lightweight plain cows averaged 20c better and the remainder lifted in price by 10c to 16c.
Medium-weight C2 yearling steers to feed made from 153.2c to 174.2c, averaging 165.3c, while heavyweight C3 lines sold from 158.2c to 166.2c, averaging 161.1c.
