The 21-year-olds, who both completed their Year 12 studies at St Patrick's in Mackay, said Boulia provided a wide variety of medical events, ranging from general health care through to emergency extractions.
During the eight-week visit, the students are under the supervision of the centre's nursing staff and visiting Royal Flying Doctor Service staff.
Both of the students said while current experiences would shape their futures in the medical world, they were adamant they were very unlikely to become suburban GPs in the city.
Boulia Mayor Rick Britton said the centre was a one-stop shop for health care in the far west.
"More of the industries and activities in this part of the world are higher risk," Cr Britton said.
"We have the cattle industry and road trains driving on a lot of dirt roads."
