After consuming 159,000ha or nearly 400,000 acres, the fire activity in the remote parts of the Central Highlands region was well contained on Monday morning, according to acting area director Winston Williams.
He said some rain had helped damp things down but had brought lightning and further fires to other parts, including at Mt Moffat north of Mitchell, to Moray Downs at Belyando Crossing, and at Orion between Springsure and Rolleston.
“We are getting on top of them quickly in most cases, but weather conditions play a large part in their containment as well,” he said.
