GrainCorp spokesman Angus Trigg today confirmed 12 positions would be relocated by March next year, but industry sources believe that more will go from the Toowoomba office.
Information obtained from a source close to the operation indicated the number could be as high as 24 positions in the gun.
“It makes sense to co-locate the logistics and planning roles that have been in Toowoomba to be with other transport and planning staff in Sydney,” Mr Trigg said.
The affected division looks after grain movements in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
Staff that are entitled to redundancies have been told they can follow their jobs if they are prepared to move to Sydney on the same salary they are being paid in Toowoomba.
Staff have also been told they will be paid a bonus on top of their existing entitlements if they stay with GrainCorp until March, when the position handovers are to take place.
GrainCorp Toowoomba also has a number of staff in the technical and operations division.
