Graham Henderson and Co and Elders will be the first agencies to sell cattle in the new facility.
A total of 5189 head of cattle has been yarded for sale and Elders Dalby territory sales manager Joe Lehman said roughly 1800 head would be sold in the new section.
“There are a few little hiccups in it but 90 per cent of the yards work really well,” he said.
“I think it’s a win-win situation for the cattle, vendors, buyers and the agents.”
Meat and Livestock Australia’s National Livestock Reporting Service reported quality was mixed at the sale and heavy grown steers and bullocks were in short supply.
Mediumweight C2 yearling steers to feed sold from 170c to 196c/kg, to average 186c, while C3 lines made from 180c to 190c, averaging 185c.
Heavyweight yearling heifers, also to feeder buyers, returned vendors from 168c to 179c to settle on an average of 177c.
The C4 heavy grown steers and bullocks sold from, 184c to 202c, averaging 195c.
