BRANGUS females with European Union (EU) accreditation averaged $60 per head higher than the sale average at the commercial precursor to the annual Rockhampton Brangus sale.
A total of 378 black females were listed from 12 vendors at the sale which easily cleared the entire catalogue.
EU listings totalled 128 head and averaged $730 against the sale average of $674.
The largest classification at the sale was No.3 heifers where 227 females averaged $684 per head and topped the sale at $1280.
The top priced pen of 12 heifers was purchased by John and Sue Joyce, Dalkeith Downs, Gracemere, from Tony, Sharon and Bryce Fernie, Blackwater.
Mr and Mrs Joyce were the successful buyers of each top priced pen of females across all age groups.
Their buying tally was 65 head.
No.2 heifers including 18 PTIC females averaged $706 for 62 head and topped at $800 per head.
The top priced pen was offered by Rob and Nardia Campbell, Goondicum, Goomeri.
A mixed pen of No.3 and No.4 females paid to a top of $920 per head for a registered pen of seven which were listed by Bruce and Leanne Woodard, Bonox Brangus, Taroom.
A total of 89 No.4 weaner heifers averaged $624.
Mal and Sue Burston, Broadlea Station, Nebo, purchased 130 head at the sale while Drew Callander, Oakdale, Blue Mountain, purchased 51 head.
“Vendors deserved a premium for these cattle and they got it,” sale spokesman, Tim Flynn said.
