DAY one of the CRT FarmFest field days began strongly on Tuesday, with crowds pouring through the gates at Kingsthorpe Park.
There was a record showing in the led steer competition, with 117 entries paraded and the Stihl Timbersports display attracted plenty of attention.
When Queensland Country Life caught up with Wideland Ag and Construction Toowoomba branch manager Paul Todd he said they had already sold two tractors and it had been an excellent first day.
"It's been a terrific crowd, we've had positive enquiry and they all seem to be confident for the upcoming season," he said.
One of the new machines being showcased at FarmFest was the Case IH Magnum 340 Rowtrac.
The Magnum 340 Rowtrac has a six-cylinder, 8.7-L turbo diesel, 254 kilowatt engine. Thanks to its design it is able to work more smoothly on irregular ground and maintains a balanced footprint.
"This is a brand new product from Case IH in Australia for this year and we've had a great run with it already; there are already tractors that we've sold out working in the field," Mr Todd said.
"We've had a great response to the Magnum 340 and the machine on our stand has already been sold today."
Wideland Ag and Construction has a new building going up in Dalby and Mr Todd said thanks to rain at the beginning of May, the 2015 winter cropping season was looking positive for many growers on the Darling Downs.
