There was a yarding of 486 cattle at Toowoomba on Monday. Welcome rain throughout the region saw numbers decline but improved prices by 8-10c/kg across the yarding.
There were no heavy bulls yarded. Best bullocks a/c RE Black & Co, Kingaroy averaged 678kg sold for 269.2c to return $1825. A pen of heavy Murray Grey steers a/c Glen Polzin, Meringandan sold for $1436. A quality line of heavy feeder steers a/c Dowling farms, Geham averaged 465kg for an impressive average of $1270 while their outstanding heifer companion portion weighing 391kg topped 278.2c to average $1135.
Heavy heifers a/c Mick & Mary Donohoe, Mt Darry weighing 513kg returned $1321. An outstanding Limousin cow a/c MH & JR Norgaard, Jondaryan, weighing 695kg topped at 232.2c to return $1632. Boner cows were marginally dearer selling to 203.2c.
Quality Angus steers sold to the trade for 288.2c returning $1264 a/c GJ & LM Moore, Pittsworth. Feeder steers to suit the trade a/c SJ Fogarty, Pittsworth weighing 358kg sold for 302.2c. Lightweight store steers a/c Judy Anne Pty Ltd, managed by Wayne Schefe weighing 259kg sold for 348.2c returning $902 each. Cows and calves a/c MH & JR Norgaard, Jondaryan sold for $1480.
