A total of 445 head of cattle were sold at Stariha Auctions Laidley cattle sale on Thursday. The market was strong for all types, with western and local restockers active.
Clarence Smith, Flagstone, sold a Brangus bull for $2000. Monica Panzram, Glen Cairn, sold the top heifer for $1380. Vic Johns, Gatton, sold a Droughtmaster bull for $1920 and cows and calves for $1600. Matthew Gerber, Haigslea, sold lines of 12 month old Droughtmaster weaners, with steers making $1040 and heifers $1060. Maurice Harrington, Helidon, sold 20 month old Brahman steers for $1270. Daryl Herschell, Rosewood, sold a line of milk tooth Santa steers for $1140. Tony Stariha, Mulgowie, sold a line of milk tooth Droughtmaster steers for $1060.
Peter and Elaine Horrocks, Mt Whitestone, sold 12-15 month old Senepol steers for $1025. Retschlag Dairies, Kilcoy, sold vealer calves for $885-$960. Lucinda and Shawn O’Rourke, Budgee, sold Charbray weaners, with steers making $910 and heifers $865. Bernie and Ruth Jackwitz, Grandchester, sold Charolais cross weaners, with steers making $885 and heifers $800. GC Pastoral, Peranga, sold a line of 10-12 month old Charbray heifers for $915.
Richard Hancock, Blenheim, sold 10-12 month old Charolais heifers for $985. Natalier Farms, Upper Tenthill, sold 8-10 month old weaners, with steers making $855 and heifers $865. Gerald Handley, Lockyer, sold a line of Blonde heifer vealer calves for $775. Lines of Angus cows and calves sold for $1475 and $1500. Neil Davenport, Laidley, sold Droughtmaster cows and calves for $1675.
