A total yarding of 298 cattle were presented at Elders Harristown saleyards on October 16.
Welcome rain saw numbers reduce dramatically from the previous week. A pen of Hereford bulls from Cliff and Lyle Douglas, Goombungee sold to 261.2c/kg to return $1945 with a Charolais bull from I&K Bebbington, Ramsay also making to 261.2c to return $2233.
A pen of bullocks also from the Douglas family returned $1718, heavy steers from R Black and Co, Kingaroy sold to 281.2c to return $1463. Heavy heifers from A&R Shepherd, Cambooya sold for $1334. Heavy trade steers from John and Ann Nitschke weighing 440kg sold to 298.2c to return $1312.
Heavy feeders suitable to the trade from G&W Motley, Plainby sold in pen lots weighing 345kg sold to 328.2c to return $1134. No cows or lightweight steers were yarded.
TOOWOOMBA PIG SALE
A total of 147 pigs were yarded with pork and bacon selling on par to last Monday. Sows sold a little dearer, store pigs in large numbers sold to a firm to dearer market.
Prime pork $154, prime light bacon $148, prime bacon $145, boars $108, sows to $205, stores $138, weaners $102 and suckers $72.
