There was an increased yarding of 1965 head at Gracemere on October 13 following last week’s wet sale, comprising of 840 steers, 970 heifers, 130 cows, 15X15 cows and calves and 10 bulls.
Most cattle were drawn from local areas along with several lines from Collinsville and Bowen. Quality was fair to good with some very good quality weaner steers and heifers on offer.
A full field of buyers were in attendance and with more rain forecast in the days to come has seen demand lift.
There were improvements in almost all categories.
Slaughter steers topped 280.2c/kg to average 260.8 c/kg a rise of 8c/kg and steers 400-500kg made 292.2c to average 280.8c up 25c on last week’s sale.
Meanwhile, steers 300-400kg sold to 382.2c to average 312.4c up 60c/kg; steers 200-300kg sold to 400.2c to average 364.7c rising 39c; while steers under 200kg lifted 30c to top 400.2c averaging 383.3c.
Slaughter cows sold to 223.2c to average 218.7c, cows 400-450kg topped 246.2c to average 212.9c, cows 320-400kg made 246.2c to average 169.9c.
Cows yarded weighing under 320kg rose a solid 35c selling to 176.2c to average 163.9c.
Heavy heifers rose 22c to make 274.2c to average 257.2c; heifers 300-400kg sold to 294.2c to average 259.8c, heifers 200-300kg topped 336.2c to average 271.4c, while those under 200kg made 302.2c to average 281.2c.
Cows and calves sold to $1400 to average $1065.
Bulls over 600kg topped 249.2c to average 224.7c, bulls 450kg-600kg made 244.2c to average 241.1c, while bulls under 450kg sold to 370.2c to average 276.3c.

Yemappo Pastoral Co, Yaamba, sold a run of No7 EU accredited Brangus steers to top at 400c weighing 220kg returning $880.
Montrose Grazing, Marlborough, sold EU accredited Brahman heifers topping at 336c weighing 253kg to return $852.
EM&RF Bella, Nebo, sold Brangus weaner heifers for 320c weighing 233kg to return $945 per head. Their steers sold for 380c weighing 272kg returning $1037.
Ben Smith and family, Gogango, sold Brangus feeder steers to top at 269c weighing 528kg to return $1422.
