The Curtis family, Bellevue Dorpers, Millmerran, offered 144 rams for 100 per cent clearance to average $2027 and a top of $4000 at their 12th annual on property ram sale.
Vendor Sophie Madge said the sale result was a testament to the resilience of the breed.
“The support for Bellevue genetics has provided a solid foundation for the stud’s ongoing success,” Mrs Madge said.
“Buyers are provided with both visual and performance data to assist them in selecting the right genetics for their operation.”
Lisa and Cameron Shannon, Boondooma, run 400 commercial White Dorpers and purchased the top priced ram a for $4000.
The Shannon family have been breeding sheep for about two years and wanted to improve the lambs they were producing on the light country. With their farm now having high security ring lock/electric fencing it was time to expand with a quality ram.
Buyers travelled from Yeppoon in Central Queensland, west to Cunnamulla and as far away as Victoria.
Rhys Harris, Mulurulu Station, via Mildura, Victoria bought 29 rams to average $2282.
New buyer chasing new genetics, Tom Palmer, Girrawheen Station, Mildura, Victoria bought 22 rams to average $2104 to run with his commercial breeding program.
Selling agent Mark Scholes, Landmark, said it was a solid sale throughout with rams for the top end buyers and rams to suit the commercial operations.
